Dr. Paula Rodriguez was born and raised in Bogota, Colombia. She moved to the United States in 2006. She graduated veterinary school from the University of Georgia in 2015 with an emphasis in Zoological medicine. While in veterinary school she was a member of the Zoological Medicine Club and worked her way up to become the vice-president and eventually the president of the club. She has worked in multiple wildlife centers and zoos around the United States. After graduation, she acquired experience in small animal medicine doing general practice in Arizona on her first year out of school. Then she completed a small animal rotating internship in a specialty hospital in South Florida. The next year she completed an internship focused on wildlife medicine and conservation in Massachusetts at Tufts University. She has now joined SEAVS to pursue additional focused training through a one year internship in avian and exotics animal medicine. Her hopes are to get an exotics/wildlife residency next year and eventually become a Diplomate of the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners (Avian). While Dr. Rodriguez is not at work, she enjoys traveling, meeting people from different cultures, volunteering at wildlife centers, and enjoy outdoor activities.
