Staff

Scott StahlScott J. Stahl DVM, DABVP - Avian
Dr Stahl graduated from the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine in 1989. He became board certified in avian medicine in 1996. Dr Stahl is currently an adjunct professor in avian and exotic animal medicine at the Virginia Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine. He is a co-founder and former chief of staff at the Eastern Exotic Veterinary Center where he served the greater Washington, D.C. area for the past 16 years. Dr. Stahl is an internationally renowned lecturer on reptilian medicine and surgery and is the author of numerous book chapters and articles on avian and exotic animal medicine and surgery.


David CrumDavid A. Crum, DVM
Dr Crum has finished his residency to become board certified in avian medicine and will sit for the board exam in the fall of 2006. He received his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Cornell University in 2002. Dr. Crum is a former associate veterinarian at Eastern Exotic Veterinary Center where he did an internship with Dr. Scott Stahl. He lectures for local avian and exotic interest groups and is a board member for the Mid-Atlantic Assn. of Avian Veterinarians Dr Crum's professional interests include both avian and ferret medicine and surgery.


Lisa M. Carr, DVMDavid Crum

Dr. Carr has completed her residency here at SEAVS and is currently looking for a position closer to her home in MD. We will keep you posted. Good luck Lisa, we'll miss you!

 

 

 


Jen HutchinsJen Hutchins, LVT
Jennifer graduated from the NVCC veterinary technology program in May 1994 and started working with Dr Stahl prior to graduation. Jennifer has been the technician representative on the board of the Mid-Atlantic Assn. of Avian Veterinarians since 2000. At home, she cares for 3 dogs, a cat, a macaw, 2 budgies, 3 sand boas, 2 tortoises, 3 tarantulas, 3 guinea pigs, 2 leopard geckos, a leaf -tail gecko, 6 betas and 2 kids.

 


Alison Szalkowski-Smith, RNAlison Smith with Pickles
Alison began working as a veterinary technician in 1994. She has worked with many kinds of animals over the past 10 years, but has a special place in her heart for exotics. Alison also volunteered with the Marine Animal Rescue Team at the National Aquarium in Baltimore from 1995-1997 where she helped rehabilitate many seals, dolphins and sea turtles. Alison graduated from Fredrick Community College nursing school in 2003 and now is pursuing her nurse practitioner’s license. She currently lives with 3 cats, Streaks, Isabella and Macy , a Cuban rock iguana named Ethel, and a scarlett macaw, Sunshine.


Alissa Pritchard, LVTAlissa Pritchard
Alissa graduated from the NVCC veterinary technology program in May 2004. She has been working professionally in veterinary medicine for 3 years and has a lifetime of experience with animals from her vast array of pets. Alissa has always taken in sick and neglected animals and currently lives with 3 rats, 2 monitors, a uromastyx, a bourke's parakeet, 2 canarys, a water dragon, a bearded dragon, 3 leopard geckos, a crested gecko, a white spot gecko, a king snake, a sand boa, a chameleolis and a cat. Alissa loves reptiles, but is affectionately known as “Rat Girl” reflecting her strong interest in rat husbandry and rehabilitation.


Anibal Armendaris, LVT

Anibal graduated from the NVCC veterinary technology program in May 2007. He has been interested in exotic animals most of his life and has worked with them professionally for the last 3 years. Throughout his life he has had the opportunity to travel to various parts of the world to study and observe a wide variety of exotic animal species in their natural environment. He currently manages and cares for Dr Stahl's personal reptile collection. Anibal lives with a corn snake, a ball python, a central american boa, a dummerils boa, a jaya carpet python and a tarantula.

 


Danya Mandery

Danya has been working in small animal veterinary medicine for the last 8 years. Her specialty was client communication and she managed a large reception staff. She also helped out with local pit bull rescue leagues. Recently, Danya decided to make a life change and come over to the "World of Exotic Animal Veterinary Medicine" to further her education about animals. Danya has been a huge asset to us here at SEAVS and in addition to reception, she is an enthusiastic technician in training! At home, she lives with her dog, an american pit bull named Tabitha, a sand boa named Wormy, a red foot tortoise named Baby Steve and a hissing cockroach named Greg.


Jackie LylesJackie Lyles
Jackie graduated from Ohio University in 1999 with a degree in Wildlife Biology. She worked as an intern and then a keeper at the Cleveland Metro Park Zoo from 1997-2000 where she cared for many species of animals. After moving to Virginia in 2001, Jackie continued to pursue her interest in exotic animals and became an exotic animal veterinary technician. Jackie lives with a dog, a crested gecko, a sand boa and a cute baby daughter.
